Reality Can Be Frighteningly Real

(6) Standing in front of me dirty and badly scratched and bruised was a small brown and white puppy. The puppy gazed at me longingly as if to say, please pick me up, please make my pain go away. What would I do? The other day when I suggested we adopt a dog mom's firm response was, "No pets". Yet, I couldn't just walk away from this small helpless creature that needed me, could I?
